Another amazing season has started at the Nushagak River Fishing Lodge, considered to be the Best Alaska Salmon Lodge. Professional fishing guide Dallas Countryman is regularly boating close to 100 Kings per day. The average size is in the 20+ range with a few exceptions like this 40 pounder.
The King Salmon season is open until the 24th of July followed by the opening of Silver Salmon in late July. The King run this year is phenomenal and we have nothing but smiling faces at the lodge.
Rick planted Kentucky Bluegrass around the lodge last year adding to the park like setting. The cabins are the most comfortable on the river with real beds and pillow top mattresses, 24/7 electricity, indoor facilities, and we even have TV and internet.
We have been having really nice weather, especially for Alaska. The mornings are still crisp but the temperatures quickly warm up and many guests are in light clothes by the afternoon.
The Nushagak offer the Best Alaska Salmon Fishing in the entire state as this year goes to prove. We not only have Kings and Silvers but large runs of Sockeye Salmon and Chum Salmon. The Pink Salmon also come into the river every other year.
The Rainbow Trout are beginning to fatten up with the best chance of catching a Trophy Fish will be in August. The fish tend to fatten up on all the fish roe in the river. In years past many of our guests have caught bows in the 10+ pound range.
If your thinking about coming to Alaska in 2017 you may want to contact us early as the Nushagak has become a very popular destination. Being the Best Alaska Salmon Lodge, the choice dates tend to book up quickly
